About Me: The Lady Behind the Spots

Welcome to my timey wimey, leopard-infested writing space. This is where I get out all of the frustrations, pitfalls, accomplishments, and tips of being a writer in the digital age. With such a variety of paths that writers can take, I thought I should add my weird and wacky journey for your enjoyment.

But before I invite you to read some of my many writing and book-based posts, let me introduce you to my partner in crime, Nyla (Stormborn) Noon.

Yes, my Bengal cat is named after the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen, but the more important point is that this blog would not be possible or exciting without her. She provides me with endless photogenic shots that liven up my rather long rants about the struggles of being a writer. So, if you enjoy writing, reading, or just love cat picturesโ€”this is the blog for you.

So, forge ahead my brave, beautiful readers and explore the unique world I’ve created at The Spotted Writer, where the quirks and insecurities of this writer can be shared with you on my journey through life.

Quick tidbits about The Spotted Writer:

My name is Amanda, but my initials spell Amy, both of which are fine to address me (crazy cat lady and O Beautiful Spotted One are acceptable too, but not required).

As you will so find,ย I’m currently in an MFA program at Carlow University (in Pittsburgh,PA) for Fiction.

I have a passion for makeup, hair-dying, cooking, and singing in addition to writing and reading. You will see me change like a chameleon over the course of our online idea exchange.

My cat is the most photographed living being on this blog, and I am proud to have such a beautiful furbaby.

I try to be as honest and adaptable in my posts and if there are any ideas or improvement or corrections (because I make many many mistakes) please know this is a safe place to share honest, constructive opinions.

So, welcome to my sacred space and Happy reading and writing!

  8. Just a brief note to let you know that I’ve put you up for a Liebster:

  9. hi! stephen king is also one of my biggest writing influences. i’ve read all of his books up to Bag of Bones, after which i only read him intermittently. he’s one of the very few authors whose writing makes me smile and be amazed by the sentence construction and vivid description of characters and scenes. of all the SK books i’ve read, i still think, overall, Different Seasons is his best book and The Breathing Method is one of the most powerful stories he has ever written. looking forward to reading more of your posts. cheers!

    • thank you for the insightful post! I always love meeting a fellow SK lover. He is truly a one-of-a-kind author that has lasted for a long time. I hope to get just a smidgen of his success!
